Last week, the QuickCare team had the opportunity to attend and participate in the 3rd Annual Childcare & Early Learning Leaders Summit (CCEL 2026) in Sydney.
The summit brought together providers, operators, regulators, investors and sector leaders from across Australia to discuss the evolving challenges and opportunities shaping the future of early childhood education and care.
Across the two days, one message came through clearly:
The childcare sector is under increasing operational and compliance pressure and providers are actively looking for simpler, more practical ways to manage workforce, compliance and day-to-day operations.
Key Themes Across the Summit
Several issues consistently emerged throughout the discussions.
Growing compliance and administrative pressure
Providers continue to face expanding obligations relating to:
- Child safety reforms
- Workforce documentation
- Mandatory training requirements
- Reporting obligations
- Ongoing compliance monitoring
Many operators spoke about the increasing administrative load placed on centre leaders and educators, particularly across multi-site services and smaller owner-operated centres.
Workforce sustainability and educator burnout
Workforce challenges also remained a major focus throughout the summit, including:
- Staffing shortages
- Last-minute shift gaps
- Educator burnout
- Retention challenges
- Increased pressure on leadership teams
A recurring theme across many conversations was that educators and operators are spending more time managing paperwork, systems and compliance processes — leaving less time to focus on children, families, team support and quality practice.
Demand for simpler operational systems
One of the strongest themes throughout CCEL 2026 was the growing demand for:
- Centralised compliance management
- Better onboarding workflows
- Real-time workforce visibility
- Audit-ready documentation
- Reduced duplication across systems and processes
- Practical operational tools that simplify, rather than complicate, centre operations
Providers are not looking for more systems to manage. They are looking for solutions that genuinely reduce operational pressure while supporting compliance and quality outcomes.
What This Means for the Sector
The conversations at CCEL reinforced that the future of childcare operations will increasingly depend on:
- smarter workforce management
- stronger compliance visibility
- streamlined operational processes
- technology that supports educators and operators in practical ways
As regulatory expectations continue to evolve, operational efficiency is becoming more closely linked to educator wellbeing, service quality and outcomes for children.
QuickCare’s Perspective
For the QuickCare team, these conversations reinforced the importance of building practical tools that genuinely support childcare providers.
Our focus continues to be helping centres:
- manage workforce compliance more effectively
- improve visibility across staffing and qualifications
- reduce administrative workload
- streamline onboarding and workforce processes
- connect with quality educators when support is needed
Most importantly, we believe operational systems should create more time for what matters most, supporting children, families and educators.
Final Thoughts
Thank you to the organisers of CCEL 2026 and everyone we connected with throughout the summit.
The conversations and insights shared across the two days highlighted both the challenges facing the sector and the strong commitment providers continue to show in delivering high-quality early learning outcomes across Australia.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting the sector through smarter workforce and compliance solutions.
