Recently, the QuickCare team had the chance to attend the ACA NSW Inner Circle event in Wentworthville, joining childcare providers, operators and sector leaders for an open discussion on the challenges currently shaping early childhood education and care across Australia.
One of the strongest themes throughout the evening was clear:
The childcare sector is facing growing operational and compliance pressure — particularly for small and owner-operated services.
Across the discussions, providers shared the increasing challenges involved in balancing regulatory obligations, workforce pressures and day-to-day centre operations while continuing to deliver high-quality outcomes for children and families.
Key Challenges Raised Throughout the Discussion
Several important issues consistently emerged across the room, including:
- Increasing compliance and administrative workload
- Mandatory child safety reforms and training requirements
- Policy and documentation overload
- Workforce register updates and reporting obligations
- Educator burnout and compliance fatigue
- Smaller providers feeling underrepresented and under-supported
A recurring concern was that educators and operators are spending more time managing paperwork, systems and compliance processes — leaving less time to focus on children, team support, family engagement and quality practice.
The Growing Need for Simpler Operational Systems
Another strong theme throughout the event was the demand for practical operational support tools that simplify centre management rather than adding more complexity.
Providers expressed strong interest in:
- Centralised compliance management
- Better onboarding and training workflows
- Audit-ready documentation
- Improved workforce visibility
- Reduced duplication across systems and processes
- Practical technology that supports daily operations
The conversations reinforced that many providers are not looking for more systems to manage — they are looking for simpler, more connected ways to reduce administrative pressure while maintaining compliance and operational confidence.
What This Means for the Sector
The discussions highlighted how closely operational efficiency is now tied to service quality, educator wellbeing and child outcomes.
As compliance requirements continue to evolve, centres are increasingly seeking:
- stronger workforce visibility
- streamlined compliance processes
- practical staffing support
- better operational oversight across services
For many providers, the challenge is no longer simply finding staff — it is managing workforce operations, compliance and quality in a sustainable way.
QuickCare’s Perspective
For the QuickCare team, the discussions reinforced the importance of building practical operational tools that genuinely support childcare providers.
Our focus continues to be helping centres:
- streamline workforce management
- improve visibility across staffing and qualifications
- reduce administrative burden
- simplify onboarding and compliance workflows
- connect with quality educators when support is needed
Most importantly, we believe operational systems should create more time for what matters most — supporting children, educators and families.
Thank You
Thank you to ACA NSW and everyone involved in the Inner Circle discussions for the valuable conversations and insights shared throughout the evening.
It was encouraging to hear such honest discussions about the realities providers are facing across the sector, and we look forward to continuing these conversations as the industry continues to evolve.
